TypeMyEssays.com is a new writing service, opening its doors only in 2017. In that short amount of time, though, we have received several comments on the company, and given that they have been pretty negative, we decided to conduct a review, so that students could have a full picture of this company, what it offers, and the quality of its products and services. To do this, we have looked at the website content, have contacted customer support with questions, have read through the on-site testimonials, have looked at off-site reviews that customers have posted on the web, checked out pricing and benefits, and ordered a short research paper ourselves. Here is what we found.

Services

The Typemyessays business model is one of “matching” student customers with writers. Customers place orders and then accept bids from company writers. Once they decide on a writer, they then make payment to their account and have the ability to speak with their chosen writer during the production process.

The products offered by the company include all types of academic writing, from basic essays to doctoral dissertations.

Quality of writing is obviously the most important factor in our reviews of writing services. To determine quality, we reviewed the following:

• Customer comments and feedback were almost all negative. While customers say that they were able to talk with their writers, the final products they received were badly written, and they were dissatisfied.

• The content on the website itself is full of grammatical errors, indicating ESL owners/writers.

• The company does have a blog. There is only one post, however – how to write a poetry analysis. While some of the information is valuable, there is advice such as to start by putting the title of the essay at the top of the page. Really?

• The paper we received reflected the same complaints that other customers had. It was not written by a native English-speaking writer, and the resources were not suitable for a college-level work. Wikipedia is just not acceptable.

Prices

Type My Paper states that its prices begin at $18/page, but we found that many of the bidders did not charge that much. Because of the business model, there are no discounts and obviously no company coupon code for any type of promotion. Pricing is totally a matter of the negotiated price with the bidder. The writer we chose charged $170.00 for an 8-page paper with 4 resources and a 7-day deadline. This is a bit high for the industry average.

Customer Support

In essence, there is none. A customer can email with any questions or issues, but the response is slow, particularly if there is a complaint involved. Some customers stated that, even though the company promises a full refund if a customer is not satisfied, this, in fact, doesn’t really happen. The customer is referred back to his writer to request revisions, and that is fine. But these same customers state that the revisions are not satisfactory either, and then the company refers them back again. Ultimately, getting a refund is almost impossible.

Conclusion

There is no company BBB membership. While we do like to see this, it is certainly not a “deal breaker.” What is a deal breaker, though is the poor quality of products and the lack of responsiveness from customer support. We do not recommend use of this service, and have assigned an overall rating of “poor.”
